Comments: I recently went to Dalaman and fell victim to an iept [to say the least] expatriate estate agent who trades as ********* and deals exclusively with English buyers. I lost 1,700TL which were due ONLY if the contract was signed. I discovered the scam and withdrew due to timely advice received through TurkishPropertyLaw. House buying is perfectly safe in Turkey if you: (1) Settle the price and have a Contract drawn by the Notary, (2) Include a Refund clause if Military permission is denied. If in dalaman, avoid this 'soft spoken', 'casual' and 'plausible' person who has no knowledge of Turkish and works through a young Turkish secretary only! A contract by any lawyer is in the same catogory as drawn up by an agent, FREE. Although valid but not cast-in-iron as the one by the Notary!!

Comments: Recently I went to Turkey to pay a property deposit and sign a 'Contract'. I was under the impression that if I went in person, the contract 'COULD' be notarised, making it easier to enforce. To my surprise I was told [by a lawyer] that it could NOT be notarised???!!!
I wonder if anybody has a view on this point.
I was also assured that once I paid the whole Purchase Price, but Military Permission was withheld, I would 'Automatically' get 'EVERYTHING' back from the 'Seller'.
I am not entirely convinced that this is true!
